A few recent happenings that have inspired me lately…
**A dear friend gave birth to her second son, Maddox last week. At one day old, he had to go through emergency surgery and is still recovering in the NICU. My friend and her husband have faced this struggle with faith, love, and positivity. I am continually amazed and inspired at watching my childhood bestie become a such a caring mother. Sending good thoughts back home to baby Maddox for an easy recovery. Can’t wait to meet this little guy next time I am home!
**On a much less serious note, I recently completed Yogalosophy’s 28 days of eating clean (well, for the most part). Here’s a snap shot of some of my favorite meals.
It felt great to accomplish this 4 week plan of cooking more, eating fresh foods, trying out new recipes [more to come on those], and focusing on my yoga practice and positive thinking. Another part of the Yogalosophy plan is mediation - which I have been thinking about incorporating into my daily routine recently. I’m inspired to meditate, but I just find it so hard to clear my head of to do lists, work projects, street noises, etc. etc. Anyone have any good tips out there for begining a mediation practice?
**Last week, I attended my first New York Fashion Week designer runway show. The Tadashi Shoji SP14 show was filled with beautiful pastels, perfect frills and movement, and some really gorgeous gowns.
I left Lincoln Center that day feeling refreshed and inspired to find a creative outlet for myself. Until I get more focused with exactly what outlet I want to dive into (photography? painting? finally getting around to some DIY projects?), I really want to concentrate on this blog and put more thought into my posts rather than just random instagram photos. ;) So here we go!
**And last but not least, this is my fabulous former roomie’s last week in NYC. Soon she moves to sunny California for a new adventure with the man she loves. Of course I am going to miss her, but I’m also left feeling inspired to see her follow her heart across the country. I know she will be successful in love AND her career out there, and hey, it’s always nice to have a good friend to visit on the left coast! :) Just a good reminder to listen to you heart and do what makes you happy! :)
